Denago EV Golf Cart Spring Prep

Getting Your Denago EV Ready for Spring? A Complete Post-Winter Checklist

Winter storage is over — it’s time to get your Denago EV cart rolling again! Whether your cart spends the winter in cold storage or in a heated garage, proper spring prep makes a big difference in performance, battery health, and longevity.
Below is a simple, step-by-step guide to help you get back at the lake or golf course with confidence.

Why Winter Storage Matters

EV carts like the Denago models use advanced lithium battery systems that are sensitive to extreme cold. Leaving them fully discharged in freezing conditions can reduce capacity and shorten lifespan. Proper winter prep and proper spring wake-up helps protect your investment and ensures smooth rides ahead.

If Your Denago Was in Cold Storage (Unheated / Outdoor / Garage Below Freezing)

If your cart sat through freezing temps:

  1. Bring it into a Warmer Space First
Before doing anything, move your cart into a climate-controlled area if possible. Even 10–20 minutes can help internal components warm up slightly, improving battery behavior.
  2. Check Battery Charge First
Cold can drain batteries. Before powering anything up:
Connect your charger and give the batteries a full charge.
If you have a battery monitor, make sure voltage and charge levels are healthy.
Don’t skip this. Charging first, protects the battery from damage.
  3. Inspect for Moisture / Corrosion
Winter moisture can lead to corrosion on terminals or electrical contacts.
    Wipe down any visible corrosion.
Apply light anti-corrosion spray or terminal grease if needed.
  4. Check Tires & Suspension
Cold weather can lower tire pressure.
Inflate tires to the manufacturer-recommended levels.
Check for flat spots or dry rot from sitting.
  5. Test Electronics & Lights
Once the battery has a solid charge:
Turn on head/tail lights, signals, horn — test everything.
Check chargers and connectors for any loose or damaged components.

If Your Denago Was in Temperature-Controlled Storage (Above Freezing)

Great news! Your cart likely fared better! Still, here’s what to do:

  1. Top Off the Battery
Even in warm storage, batteries slowly self-discharge.
Give your cart a full charge before first use.
If you used a maintainer or charger through winter, make sure to briefly re-charge before hitting the road.
  2. General Inspection
Temperature-controlled storage reduces stress on components, but you still should:
    Check for dust buildup
    Look for tire pressure changes
    Inspect covers, decals, and upholstery
  3. Functional Test
Turn on lights, signals, brake lights, horn, dash displays, etc.
Make sure all features operate as expected.
If something feels “off,” call us for a quick tech check.
